Khao Sod, which translates to "fresh news" in Thai, is a daily newspaper that serves readers across Thailand. Launched on April 9, 1991, it is the newest member of the Matichon Publishing Group, which also includes two other daily papers, Matichon and Prachachat. Khao Sod aims to reach a broader audience and has a particular focus on readers in rural areas, setting it apart from its sister publications. It boasts impressive circulation figures, with around 300,000 copies sold each day. While it covers a variety of topics, including crime, local news, and entertainment—similar to other leading national newspapers like Thai Rath and Daily News—Khao Sod also addresses important political and social matters, aligning with the editorial direction of Matichon and Prachachat. The newspaper is under the management of Kanchai Boonparn, who also oversees the entire Matichon Group.
