LEXINGTON, Mo. -- According to Missouri Casenet, a lawsuit has been filed in the Lexington home explosion case. Online documents name four different companies who may be held responsible for the events leading up to the house explosion that claimed the life of one young boy and severely injured his father and sister.

Update (4/9/25, 9:38 p.m.) - KMZU's Joe Aull, after a debfriefing by Lexington city officials, reports the explosion happened at 7:45 p.m. on the corner of 18th and Franklin in Lexington. A contractor, whose name is not being disclosed at this time, hit a Liberty gas line, causing the explosion. Three structures have been seriously damaged. Any injuries sustained in the blast have not yet been released.

KEARNEY, Mo. -- Brandon Riley may be one of the youngest members of the Kearney Middle School Science Olympiad Team, but he’s already making a big impact. With a passion for problem-solving and a knack for critical thinking, Brandon has helped his team secure an impressive third-place finish at the regional competition. For the challenge, Riley designed and built a tower engineered to support up to 33 pounds. Sand was gradually added until it reached its maximum capacity.
