It serves as a dual affiliate for ABC and MyNetworkTV and is licensed to Columbia, Missouri, covering the Columbia–Jefferson City area. The station is owned by the News-Press & Gazette Company (NPG), which is based in St. Joseph. KMIZ has a sister station, KQFX-LD, a low-powered Fox affiliate on channel 22, also licensed to Columbia. KMIZ airs KQFX-LD's programming on its fourth digital subchannel. Both stations operate from studios located on the East Business Loop 70 in Columbia, while their transmitter is situated west of Jamestown, near the county line of Moniteau and Cooper.
