La Libre

La Libre

La Libre Belgique, often referred to simply as La Libre, is a prominent daily newspaper in Belgium. It is one of the leading French-language newspapers in the country, alongside Le Soir, and enjoys a strong readership in both Brussels and Wallonia. Established in 1884, La Libre has traditionally leaned towards a centre-right Christian Democratic viewpoint. The publication is notably recognized for its courageous work as an underground newspaper during the occupations of World War I and World War II. Since 1999, La Libre has shifted towards a more liberal stance, though it still maintains a more conservative position compared to Le Soir.
