Laois County Council are to consider the possibility of building a second pedestrian crossing in Borris-In-Ossory. The matter was raised by Fine Gael Councillor Conor Bergin at a recent meeting of the Borris-In-Ossory-Mountmellick Municipal District. Cllr Bergin requested that one be erected adjacent to St Canice’s Hall in the town. Laois senior hurling manager Tommy Fitzgerald has named his team for their Joe McDonagh Cup opener against Westmeath. Laois are at home for the first game on Saturday in O’Moore Park at 3pm. And ahead of the game, Laois appear to have recovered the majority of the players who picked up injuries during the National League. The venue for two Laois Ladies games has been changed following the deluge of rain that has fallen in the last 12 hours. The games were scheduled to take place in the Centre of Excellence in Portlaoise but have now been switched to Annanough. Up first, the Laois U-16 team are in a Leinster ‘B’ semi final against Westmeath. That game throws in at 2pm and the winner will face the winner of Meath and Louth in the final. While the second part of the double header is the Leinster Minor ‘B’ semi final.
