A Laois choir is set to celebrate ten years with their first ever solo concert in what promises to be a night of “song, joy, and community spirit.”The Cosy Choir, based in Mountrath, is comprised of several members who have spent the last decade coming together to sing, entertain, and most of all have fun. The anniversary concert takes place in Bloom HQ, Mountrath, on Friday, June 20, at 7pm. The concert will help to raise money for Laois Hospice and Irish Guide Dogs.

A third Lidl is coming to Laois after an application for planning permission was recently granted by the local Planning Authorities. The application is for a location in Graiguecullen, meaning Carlow County Council have also been involved in the planning process.

The Planning Authorities at Laois County Council have recently awarded permission for a major developer to begin construction on a 67-unit project in Portarlington. Kingscroft Developments Ltd, based in Clonee, County Meath, have been given the green light for the residential development in Cooltederry. Kingscroft are responsible for a number of other estates around the county, including Cloonroosk Abbey in Portlaoise and Ballycullenbeg in Mountmellick.
