BELLOWS FALLS — Only members of the Rockingham Select Board or their designees will be allowed to suggest what commemorative flags the town would fly, according to a draft policy the board is considering. The Select Board took a look at the proposed flag policy Tuesday night, and sent it back to the town attorney for more adjustments. The board will vote to either adopt or reject it in two weeks, according to Town Manager Scott Pickup.

BENNINGTON — There’s a new Bennington County Deputy State Prosecutor, and she’s a Vermont native with a passion for balancing the rights of defendants, community safety, and the constitutional requirements of the law. Anna Cykon grew up the middle child of a prosecutor and an occupational therapist in Montpelier, the place she still calls home and the town her parents still live in. Her upbringing was “wonderful” and one of the main reasons she moved back to Vermont.

MONTPELIER — Vermont is following the law and and proud of its efforts to be welcoming to all students, Education Secretary Zoie Saunders told the U.S. Department of Education. "And because of — not despite —those efforts, Vermont can confidently certify — as it has in the past — that it complies with current Title 6 statutory, regulatory, and decisional law," she wrote Monday in response to a request for certification from the federal government.
