BRATTLEBORO — After dealing with confusion and frustration with changes to the parking system in the last six months, the town plans to reconfigure zones and bring back free Sunday parking. To still draw the sought-after revenue, two additional enforcement hours will be tacked on to nights Monday through Saturday. The process to return to free Sundays will involve hearings for an ordinance amendment, with mid-July being the earliest that Town Manager John Potter expects it could begin again.

BRATTLEBORO — After experiencing a lack of success in finding a town finance director, a new plan is in place. On Tuesday, the Select Board approved a plan to contract with Bonnie K. Batchelder of Batchelder Associates in Keene, N.H., for $140,000 for a year. "Given the circumstances, I feel like we got a little lucky," board member Peter "Fish" Case said.

WHITINGHAM — A settlement agreement between the U.S. Department of Justice and Twin Valley was resolved early. The three-year agreement was entered in March 2023 to resolve noncompliance issues related to Title 4 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 after the DOJ found the district "failed to respond adequately to known complaints of peer harassment and a broader hostile environment in Twin Valley Middle-High School," a letter the DOJ sent to the superintendent this week.
