On Saturday, May 31 the Dumas Demon 7-on-7 held its annual SQT Meet with seven other teams in town to qualify for a spot in the championship tournament at College Station June 26-27. There was also a Lineman Challenge being held in the Demon Dome for teams to qualify to compete in Abilene for the Lineman Challenge State competition June 21.

The Moore County Marlins opened the season at home at Dumas Aquatic Park Saturday, May 31 where they took first place overall with a total of 593 points. Spearman finished second with 420 points, Guymon took third with 288 points, Ulysses finished fourth with 217 points, Elkhart took fifth with 64 points and Southwest Aquatic team took sixth with 29 points. A Tyler man was shot by police and later died Thursday night after officers responded to a disturbance call in the Cascades neighborhood. The man was identified as John Augustine Tangney O'Kelly, 38, of Tyler. Police say he was suicidal at the time of the shooting. Officers were called around 7 p.m. to a home in the 3100 block of Cascades Court in Tyler. Dispatchers initially received the call as a suspicious person, but it was later updated to a disturbance involving a person inside a home.

Hundreds of grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were seized during a Saturday, May 31 execution of a search warrant in Dumas. According to Dumas Police Department (DPD) Lt. Tommy Gonzales, the warrant was executed in the 800 block of Binkley Street around 7 a.m. Saturday by officers of the DPD along with detectives and members of the Special Response Team. During the search, law enforcement discovered over 360 grams of methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia.
