On 15 June 2025, we will name the best wine lists in Austria on the last stop of this season’s Star Wine List of the Year international tour before the grand finale. It is fitting that the Star Wine List of the Year International Final is being held in Vienna (on 16 June 2025), as the Austrian capital is proving the frontrunner in the country’s wine list battle, accounting for 13 out of our 33 finalists, as announced by the jury panel today.

The finalists in Star Wine List of the Year Asia 2025 are spread from Singapore to Shanghai by way of Bangkok, Ho Chi Ming City and Taipei. The judges have deliberated on a diverse set of wine lists submitted by wine bars and restaurants across the continent and we now have a shortlist of 66 venues competing for Gold Stars. Star Wine List of the Year Asia 2025 will see Gold Stars awarded to the best wine lists across Greater China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

On 15 April, Star Wine List hosted an awards ceremony in Tokyo to announce the best wine lists in Japan, during ProWine Tokyo. Osaka proved the standout wine destination, counting for eight out of the 11 Gold Stars presented by Star Wine List’s Krister Bengtsson with judges Reeze Choi and Toru Takamatsu MS. Star Wine List’s Basque Country Ambassador, Aitor Maiztegui, has selected six new Red Stars across Rioja – use our new guide to discover the best places to drink wine in the region. Aitor Maiztegui is Head Sommelier at the three-Michelin-star Azurmendi restaurant, just outside of his native Bilbao. After training in London, San Sebastián and Madrid, he returned to his hometown to collaborate with chef Eneko Atxa, who first opened Azurmendi in 2005 and boasts five Michelin stars to his name.
