To the editor:Please add my voice to the ones that don't want to see Eagle Lake boat launch closed. If I'm not mistaken, there are a small handful of camps that are only accessible by water. What will they do? Beyond that, it gets used. Drive by any day in summer, and there will always be vehicles in that lot. Eagle Lake is a nice size for small motorboats and canoes, and the existing launch makes it easy to use. Even when the parking lot is full, it's never "crowded" on the water.

Wool and other fiber production has been an important part of agriculture in the Adirondacks for many years. In the 1800s many of the new settlers in the region were from Ireland, Scotland, and England. With a landscape conducive to raising sheep, there was boom in merino wool farmers in the region. It was commonplace for people to make mittens, socks and other merino wool products to sell during this time.
