COLUMBUS — For over 40 years, Al Hogan called the Columbus-Absarokee area home. He had a passion for engines and motorsports, often described as someone who "never let grass grow under his feet." The Yellowstone and Stillwater rivers border the area, and one specific motorcycle hill, thanks to Hogan. With this year’s Nitro National Pro Hillclimb beginning Friday outside of Columbus, a key figure will be missing.. Hogan passed away from pancreatic cancer three months almost to the day, on March 15.

Friends and colleagues are remembering Yellowstone County Commissioner John Ostlund, who died Thursday in a plane crash at the age of 73. “I feel bad for Christie (Ostlund's wife) and the whole family. It's a tragedy and, you know... Our condolences go out to her," said Bill Kennedy, a current Billings City Council member and former Yellowstone County commissioner who served with Ostlund.

BILLINGS — Thursday was a very warm final full spring day for much of Montana and Wyoming, with highs 10-15 degrees warmer than average. We didn't have as much severe weather, but strong thunderstorms will still rumble through this evening, before falling apart long before sunrise Friday. Lows will remain in the 50s and lower 60s.
