The Marietta Daily Journal
The Marietta Daily Journal (MDJ) is a daily newspaper based in Marietta, Georgia. It boasts a daily paid circulation of around 17,000 copies and provides coverage of local, national, and international news. As the main newspaper for Cobb County, where Marietta serves as the county seat, largest city, and geographic center, it ranks just behind the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which reports on the entire metro Atlanta area and much of north Georgia. Every Thursday, the MDJ releases additional editions that are distributed to all county residents, including those without subscriptions, funded through advertising inserts. These editions include the East Cobb Neighbor for East Cobb, the North Cobb Neighbor for Kennesaw and Acworth, the South Cobb Neighbor for Mableton, Powder Springs, and Austell, as well as the Smyrna Neighbor for Smyrna. There's also the Vinings Neighbor, which focuses on the Vinings area and is managed from a different office. All of these publications are part of Neighbor Newspapers, which also produces similar weekly papers throughout most metro Atlanta counties from their respective county seats. To the north, the Cherokee Tribune is another daily newspaper created by the same company for Cherokee County, Georgia. The editorial perspective of the MDJ leans center-right, reflecting the county's historical voting patterns, which have shown strong support for Republican candidates since the area became suburbanized.

Would you like some social media stardom (and money for college) with your diploma? Mill Creek High School graduate Mykale Baker walked across the stage at his graduation on May 21 and received his diploma like hundreds of his classmates. But he’s become a TikTok sensation for what he did after the commencement ceremony. You see, flipping burgers is not exactly the way one would expect a newly minted high school graduate to celebrate their accomplishment, but Baker did just that.

It is officially summer! Graduations, celebrations, reunions, and picnics are taking place all over America. Watermelons are ripening, and corn grows tall in the sunshine. I always view this season as one made for children. They can laugh freely, run with wild abandon, and embrace their imaginations. If adults did the same, we would spread more joy. My granddaughter recently visited on her way home to Florida after finishing her sophomore year of college.

The Mableton City Council approved a revised version of a $9.5 million service deal with Cobb County Friday night, hours after a deadline to avoid county-wide state sanctions had already passed. The council's 5-2 vote Friday night to greenlight the payout came two days after it voted 4-3 to veto a similar agreement. Councilwoman Patricia Auch said she and Councilwoman Debora Herndon remained firm in their "no" votes on Friday.

Dear Doctors: I am 40 years old and the father of three boys. My wife and I don't plan on having more children. I'm considering a vasectomy, but I worry about what the surgery is like and how permanent it is. Is surgery to reverse a vasectomy difficult? Dear Reader: A vasectomy is a minimally invasive surgery that provides men with an effective and permanent form of birth control -- well, almost permanent, because yes, a vasectomy can often be reversed.
