The New Civil Rights Movement
In November 2008, following eight years of Republican policies that resulted in a global financial crisis and marginalized communities, voters chose Barack Obama as their president. However, in California, voters also decided to prohibit same-sex marriage by passing Prop 8. This moment had a profound impact on my life. Like many others, I sought answers and felt compelled to take action. In the weeks that followed, I founded The New Civil Rights Movement to provide those answers and unite a community of progressives dedicated to advancing civil rights for the LGBT community. Since then, we have transformed NCRM into a powerful advocate for progressives, the LGBT community, and other underrepresented groups across the nation. There is still much work ahead of us. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for your commitment to civil rights and equality for all.

The deadline is fast approaching: July 9, he has said.

Pete Hegseth, the former Fox News weekend co-host, angrily vowed that his battle to become Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense would not be “tried in the media,” but that is exactly what Hegseth and his allies are doing — and they’re attacking the reputation and credibility of America’s Armed Forces to make their case. “I don’t answer to anyone in this group,” Hegseth told reporters on Thursday. “None of you, not to that camera at all,” he said, as he began pointing.

Republican U.S. Congresswoman Mary Miller of Illinois is facing backlash after denouncing the decision to allow a man—whom she first misidentified as a Muslim and later acknowledged was Sikh—to deliver the House morning prayer. “It’s deeply troubling that a Muslim was allowed to lead prayer in the House of Representatives this morning. This should have never been allowed to happen.

After Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. blamed a lone lawmaker for what he described as the nation’s public health crisis, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) struck back. “You’ve presided here, I think, for 32 years,” Secretary Kennedy told Senator Murray, the Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, on Tuesday. “You presided over the destruction of the health of the American people.
