Name calling is disrespectful. That’s not a difficult concept to absorb. Calling someone a name, insulting them is not a way to win them to your side of the argument or even to be able to effectively communicate with them. We are told this constantly. We are constantly berated with the idea that we need to moderate our behavior and seek to appeal nicely to the MAGAs because that’s the only way we’ll be able to bring people over to our side and win electorally.

It’d probably feel like Tuesday, but for the fact that Greg Dworkin is on his way in. Greg hasn’t had a crack at the Trump “speeches” yet, but I’m not sure that’s really his thing, anyway. Luckily, there’s no shortage of the outrageous, authoritarian, or just plain stupid to sample from. Today or any other day. Although if it was a Tuesday, it wouldn’t be Greg sampling from it. That’s not news.

[I]n this moment, this morning, our sacred rule of law is under attack. Journalism is under attack. Universities are under attack. Freedom of speech is under attack. And insidious fear is reaching through our schools, our businesses, our homes, and into our private thoughts. The fear to speak—in America! If our government is, in Lincoln’s phrase, ‘of the people, by the people, for the people,’ then why are we afraid to speak? The Wake Forest class of 1861, they did not choose their time of calling.

You're Not Crazy. America Has Gone Mad American politics has become so insane that being reasonable feels like a malady, and MAGA agrees. We are throwing the most advanced health science research system into the sea and have turned over our public health infrastructure to quacks and crooks. We are destroying our prosperity to sate the president’s desire to play at 19th century political economy.
