The wine and spirits division of luxury goods company LVMH, Moët Hennessy, is staying silent on reports it will slash its workforce by 10% due to poor sales results. First reported in the Financial Times, the paper said Jean-Jacques Guiony, Moët Hennessy chief executive, and his deputy, Alexandre Arnault, reportedly told staff in the wine and spirits arm that employee numbers would be cut to pre-pandemic levels seen in 2019. That would equate to approximately 1,200 people out of 9,400 employees.

The top 10 finalists for Diageo World Class GB have been revealed, with the national final to take place in Scotland in June. The finalists have been whittled down from a long list of 100, all of whom served up cocktails as part of the Diageo World Class 2025 festival last month. Each participating bar served three bespoke cocktails inspired by their local community and based around a Diageo-owned spirit, such as Don Julio Tequila, The Singleton whisky and alcohol-free brand Seedlip.

Italian firm Campari Group saw organic sales drop by 4.8% in the first quarter and confirmed it would streamline its portfolio and not seek further acquisitions. The Milan-headquartered group noted a ‘soft start’ to this year with sales falling to €666 million (US$750m) in the first quarter (Q1). The first-quarter performance followed a full-year organic sales increase of 2.4% for the Aperol maker in 2024.
