Ben Cornelius is planning a new venture called Streetwise Market for the site at 2552 Valleydale Road in Birmingham. Cornelius plans to offer fresh fruits and vegetables, plants, flowers, take-and-bake family meals and sides, grab-and-go salads, dips and more.

Jim Park is slated to retire from his role as Birmingham city president with West Alabama Bank in September. Mason Morris, current Central Alabama president with the bank, will then be its sole market leader in Birmingham. Morris was a member of the BBJ's 2024 40 Under 40 class.

    Officials expect an investment of several million dollars in an industrial park in Auburn to generate hundreds of jobs. The city of Auburn is using a $2.85 million Site Evaluation and Economic Development Strategy (SEEDS) grant to expand Auburn Technology Park West, according to the Alabama Department of Commerce. With matching funds from the Industrial Development Board of the city of Auburn, total investment in infrastructure improvements for the site will come to $5.7 million.
