    An Elland school that was rated inadequate by Ofsted in 2022 has now received a ‘Good’ rating in all areas. Following a recent inspection, Ofsted now calls The Brooksbank School ‘a school transformed’. Inspectors visited the school at the start of April and looked at the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision, rating all these as Good.

    The road between Hebden Bridge and Oxenhope is set to be closed for seven weeks with a long diversion in place. Hebden Bridge Road will be closed from the entrance to The Keepers Lodge for approximately 100 metres south of Keepers Lodge. The road is set to be closed until September 26.

    The Piece Hall’s summer of music starts this week. From June to August, the months that the concerts are taking place, road closures will be in place around the venue. Blackledge, which runs along the Piece Hall’s South Gate, from Square Chapel car park to Orange Box car park will be closed throughout the summer. Cross Street is also set to be closed until the end of August. Alfred Street East will also be closed on concert days from 4pm to 11.30pm.

    Replacement of a water pipe that is old and prone to bursting may cause disruption for drivers until mid-August. Yorkshire Water has started work to replace around 500m of clean water pipe on Huddersfield Road and Bradford Road. The work is part of Yorkshire Water’s £406m investment to replace more than 1,000km of water mains across the region over the next five years.
