Sales tax revenues in Shreveport may be up so far this year, but it's not yet a sure indicator the city's budget is secure. Though sales tax revenues at the end of April were up by 1.6% from that time last year, a top city administrator says it's too soon to know if that's a trend or an anomaly associated with a roiled national economy. April's sales tax collections were up significantly, but what unfolds in the next few months will be crucial.

Shreveport is hoping a few recent changes will shave several months off designing new infrastructure projects, especially those from the 2024 bond election. The city recently implemented a handful of procedural changes to its design process for capital projects aimed at making them shovel-ready faster. Though most are simple changes, they involve shortcuts, new responsibilities for some employees and prioritization of the work city leaders are most anxious to get underway.

april is the cruellest month

Y'all have been so generous as I try to raise some funding to get this stray cat surgery. Mamas is doing well. Her surgery is bumped to Friday. I'm still asking for help, so please consider donating to help save this girl's leg after she got hit by a car https://t.co/lRGtJqA4vs

I've been taking care of Mamas for months. She vanished for a few days but finally limped home. The vet says her hind leg is shattered. Hit by a car. She needs surgery to save her leg. I want to do anything I can for her. Please consider helping out: https://t.co/lRGtJqA4vs
