SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - According to the CDC, stillbirth affects about 1 in 175 births. Each year, about 21,000 babies are stillborn. An area support group hopes to reduce that number by advocating for more education and awareness surrounding stillbirths. Julianna Grace Ministry was created out of grief after Lisa Rowell lost her daughter at 23 weeks gestation in 2013. Since then, she has dedicated herself to helping those who have lost a child.

MARSHALL, Texas (KSLA) - Many kids look forward to making memories during summer camp, but for 38 kids, one camp in the ArkLaTex empowers children to embrace their scars and trauma. This healing camp is a place where young burn survivors can just be kids. Camp I’m Still Me focuses specifically on kids who have been burned. Since 1992, this home away from home lets burn survivors just be kids while celebrating their resiliency. It’s a place where they can feel completely comfortable in their skin.

BOSSIER CITY, La. (KSLA) - A young boy with terminal cancer participated in a special ceremony in Bossier City Wednesday afternoon (May 29). Representatives from 15 different law enforcement agencies in the area did a special ceremonial swearing in ceremony for Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 12-year-old boy from Texas with terminal cancer. Daniel has been sworn in with more than 800 law enforcement agencies across the country; his goal is to hit 1,000 for the Guinness Book of World Records.
