But first there’s your date, firm and sturdy, tucked into a tan jacket. You take off the sleeve to find … your blind date with a book!In February 2023, the University of Minnesota Libraries set up over 250 students and staff with a blind date and had 40 book matchmaking requests. And it’s looking to be equally popular this year.

Related exhibit The exhibit, “Graywolf at 50: First Drafts and Next Pages,” will be on display Feb. 19 to May 17 at the U of M’s Elmer L. Andersen Library — home to the Graywolf Press archive. If there’s a book you just can’t stop thinking about, chances are Graywolf Press published it. Graywolf Press, a nonprofit publisher based in Minneapolis, doesn’t focus on publishing brief bestsellers. Instead, Graywolf hunts for literary prestige, for the authors and novels with staying power.

Myra Billund-Phibbs remembers coming to Wilson Library for National History Day when she was a middle school student in Bloomington, Minnesota. “I had never been here, and my mind was blown. It was really cool. I remember the wonder, and I looked at microfilm, and I had never seen that before, so that was fun,” said Billund-Phibbs, a doctoral student and teacher’s assistant at the University of Minnesota’s Department of History.
