The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Assembly unanimously adopted its $11.7 million Local Education Fund portion of the borough's budget during its Monday night meeting, while continuing to mull over $77 million in proposed spending from other funds to prepare the borough's upcoming 2026 fiscal year budget. The borough budget is adopted in two separate ordinances: Ordinance 2066-S will determine initial school funding from the Local Education Fund, and 2070 will determine all other borough funding.

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough School Board voted to continue specializing, or restructuring, the island‘s elementary schools at its special Saturday meeting. A motion which would have revoked its earlier implementation of the plan in favor of creating multi-age classrooms failed 1-4 after about 30 minutes of School Board discussion and about an hour and a half of public comment.

Both lanes of the bypass around the Wolff Point landslide will be closed at 6 p.m. Wednesday, and drivers should "expect extended delays," according to a Tuesday evening announcement from SECON. According to the announcement, one lane will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Wednesday, but the closure is scheduled for 6 p.m. while workers "remove a large boulder" from the slope.
