The Ketchikan School Board met Saturday to consider a motion to create a multi-age classroom plan. That motion failed. School Board President Katherine Tatsuda spoke with KRBD about the challenges schools throughout the state are facing, and why Ketchikan schools decided to move forward with K-3rd grade at Pt. Higgins and Fawn Mountain, and 4th through 6th at Houghtaling.

At KRBD we will do our best to keep you updated on blasting and road closures as we receive them. Here is information as of 8:00 AM, Thursday, April 10. Blasting IS SCHEDULED AT 11 AM, Friday, April 11. Delays of approximately 20 minutes are expected. There may be 15 – 20 minute delays when they need to regrade the temporary bypass. Unless conditions change, traffic will remain 2-way North Bound and Southbound 24/7. Brief delays are anticipated when blasting events occur, and work continues.

A new parking payment system is being installed and tested next week at the Ketchikan International Airport. It’s part of the state’s Gravina Access Improvement Project. The new, license plate-based system will link parking passes to a vehicle’s license plate number, rather than to a specific stall. Jenni Fox is the airport’s administrative supervisor. “So right now there is a report generated by what stall has been paid for and we have people that go out and verify parking has been paid for.
