Two older adults from Sylvania were victims of online fraudsters on the same day, losing $10,000 each after transferring resolve the issue, the pop-up said, she needed to go to Lowe’s to purchase gift cards to “transfer her account balance to a new, secure account.”money through gift cards and cryptocurrency. The scams occurred on April 25 and were reported to the Sylvania Police Department right after they occurred — but not soon enough to recover the losses.

Toledo firefighters encountered several gunshots during a recent medical run, later finding a bullet hole in the bill of one of the firefighers’ hats. According to an email sent to staff members, firefighters were dispatched to the 600 block of Lagrange Street at 5:09 p.m. April 21 for an unconscious person. While evaluating the patient, they heard several gunshots and loaded the patient, who was taken to Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center.

Sean Duhart was convicted Thursday on two of three murder charges against him. A Lucas County Common Pleas Court jury found Duhart of the 3600 block of Willys Parkway guilty on charges of aggravated murder and first-degree murder, and not guilty of second degree murder. He was also found guilty of felonious assault and firing on or near prohibited premises.

Toledo is finding itself alongside other cities leading justice reform efforts, being selected as one of eight to join a network of leaders aiming to improve access to housing for justice-involved people. The 16-month Housing Justice Peer Network program will result in the creation of a detailed plan to address housing needs in Toledo focusing on strengthening re-entry housing partnerships, developing a master leasing model, and enhancing landlord engagement, according to a news release.
