CINCINNATI — Members of an Ohio nonprofit warn the water quality of the Ohio River Basin needs to improve. The Ohio River Basin Alliance (ORBA) is a collaborative nonprofit that advocates for the river's sustainability. Chair Chris Lorentz said threats to the water quality could be impacting drinking water. "We need to address these threats on a base-wide level," Lorentz said. Lorentz said some of the existing threats include toxic pollution, sewage contamination and harmful runoff.

LOCKLAND, Ohio — The Village of Lockland will not provide a school resource officer (SRO) to the Lockland School District next school year. The decision comes after district leaders criticized the Lockland Police Department's handling of the aftermath of a Neo-Nazi demonstration that happened in Lincoln Heights in early February. Shortly after the demonstration, an Evendale police officer escorted a U-Haul truck transporting the Neo-Nazis.

CINCINNATI — Following the drowning death of a 6-year-old West Chester boy in November, a Cincinnati nonprofit is demanding that lawmakers pass legislation that would lead to better protection around neighborhood ponds and lakes. In November, Joshua Al-Lateef Jr. was found dead after drowning in a pond near his home. Joshua had wandered away from his home the day before, which led to a massive search and a result that most people feared.

CINCINNATI — Hamilton County health officials say there's a concerning trend in the number of kids dying from sleep-related causes. Thursday, Greg Kesterman and Grant Mussman, health commissioners with the Hamilton County Public Health Department, spoke to a group of parents about the troubling trends. "We've not really seen our deaths from sleep-related deaths go down," Mussman said.

CINCINNATI — Some people are calling for Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich to clear the Cincinnati police officer who shot and killed 18-year-old Ryan Hinton, including in her Facebook comments. But that decision may depend on whether the case is presented before a grand jury. On May 1, officers with the Cincinnati Police Department (CPD) said they became aware of a stolen vehicle at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Warsaw Avenue.
