Biomedical researchers at Ohio University are leading an effort to uncover the clinical significance of a protein that is pivotal in fueling skeletal muscle, regulating exercise endurance, and enhancing insulin sensitivity. Sheila enjoyed her many friends and classmates including her Friday lunch group PCHS-Class 1958 and her wonderful neighbor and close friend, Randi Ward.
Ravenswood man sentenced to 554-1,210 years in prison

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. (WTAP) – A man from Ravenswood received a large prison sentence. John Lawson was sentenced to 554-1,210 years in prison, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. The sentence was announced by the sheriff’s department on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. Lawson was convicted on 136 sex-related offenses following a week-long trial in December 2022.

The award will increase higher education access for students in Athens County, and all surrounding counties, by allowing them to attend Ohio University tuition-free, according to a statement from Ohio University. The President’s Opportunity Promise Award was announced by Ohio University President Lori Stewart Gonzalez on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023.
Women’s Giving Circle donates to three organizations

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – The Women’s Giving Circle announced funding for programs that empower local women and children. The announcement was made on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. According to a statement from the Marietta Community Foundation:· $4,000 will enable Harmar Rowing Club to reduce student fees and replenish their scholarship fund for students wishing to participate in rowing. Scholarships assist students needing to pay for uniforms, meals during travel, and more.

Bill was born in Springton, WV on June 11, 1931, to Leroy McKee and Mary Helen Grace Haynes Sexton. He attended WV grade and high schools, graduated the 10th grade at Montcalm High in 1947 and Bramwell High School in 1949, and received his BS Degree in Chemistry from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VA Tech) in 1959.
