    The peace of a normally quiet Simi Valley neighborhood was shattered on May 3 when an airplane plunged from the sky and collided with two occupied homes, killing a father and son along with a dog. Rescuers with the Ventura County Fire Department responded to the scene in the 200 block of High Meadow Street in the Wood Ranch area shortly before 2 p.m. to a report of a small, single-engine, fixed-wing aircraft that crashed into two structures and set them on fire.
