Two Ventura County sheriff’s deputies were arrested in late March after a fight at a bar in Camarillo that sent a bouncer to the hospital. The two deputies, Anthony Malagon and Dylan Davis, were at the El Rey Cantina in Old Town Camarillo a little after midnight on March 30, according to a statement released April 16 by Sheriff Jim Fryhoff. Both men were off duty.

City Council approved a 328-unit apartment complex on the site last year. High Street Residential closed escrow on the property March 17, paying $18 million. High Street plans to start construction early next year. The recent sale of 500 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. could speed up progress on a large apartment complex planned for the site, according to both the new owner and city planners.

The Simi Valley Town Center is now owned by real estate companies Steelwave and Steerpoint Capital. The mall's owners want to build housing on the site. Their plan is similar to those put forward by two previous owners. The new owners of the Simi Valley Town Center have come to the same conclusion as the previous owners: Some of the retail space at the mall should be replaced with housing.

This story was written before the tariffs were set to take effect, but I wrote it basically assuming they’d happen. I still think everything in it applies today. Including one of my sources speculating that the tariffs wouldn’t happen, or if they did, wouldn’t last long.
