A fire damaged the former home of Queen Sheba restaurant and bar Tuesday afternoon on Capitol Hill. Crews responded around 2:50 p.m. to a report of flames on the first-floor exterior of the building at East John Street and Broadway. As of 3 p.m., the fire was under control, though crews were checking how badly it had scorched the building, according to a Seattle Fire Department post on X.

TACOMA — A federal judge in Tacoma on Thursday temporarily blocked enforcement of the Trump administration’s ban on transgender people serving in the military, marking another legal setback for the president’s sweeping campaign targeting trans and nonbinary people. U.S. District Judge Benjamin Settle granted a preliminary injunction, which blocks Trump’s executive order from taking effect and allows trans troops to keep serving until the lawsuit is decided.
