GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - A man who admitted to robbing a bank last year so that he could get health care was sentenced to probation this week, according to online court records. Mark Vogel, 63, was sentenced for an incident that happened on January 18, 2023, when police responded to BMO Harris Bank on Military Avenue in Green Bay for a report of a robbery. According to the criminal complaint, a bank teller told police a man walked up to the counter and demanded money.

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WBAY) - A Sheboygan man who was charged in a crash that killed a little girl is now accused of stealing a memorial cross honoring the crash victim. Nathan Heitzmann, 24, is criminally charged in the crash that resulted in the death of a child. He is now charged with misdemeanor theft in this new case. The cross was stolen in August and had been placed at the location of the fatal crash. According to a criminal complaint, a witness saw Heitzmann with the cross.

DE PERE, Wis. (WBAY) - St. Norbert College confirmed Wednesday that 41 members of its staff are being laid off. GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The attorney for the Green Bay woman convicted of killing and dismembering a man has withdrawn his motion to delay his client’s sentencing. Earlier this summer, a jury found Taylor Schabusiness guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, mutilation of a corpse, and third-degree sexual assault in the death of Shad Thyrion. Schabusiness pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect -- Wisconsin’s version of an insanity defense. The jury also rejected that defense.

TOWN OF CHASE, Wis. (WBAY) - A 39-year-old Green Bay woman was injured in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office said. The sheriff’s office said around 4:44 a.m., the Oconto County Emergency Dispatch Center received notification from the Brown County Emergency Dispatch Center of a hit and run crash involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle near the intersection of CTH C and South Chase Road in the Town of Chase.
