The first banners were hung in time for Memorial Day. Shady Lane launched a program to honor Manitowoc veterans and active-duty military personnel with banners. The banners display the individual's photo, name, branch of service and/or credentials along the route to Red Arrow Park. More information and applications are available on Shady Lane's website. MANITOWOC – Shady Lane, Inc., launched a new Salute to Service banner program May 22 with the first set of banners hung in time for Memorial Day.

Manitowoc modeled the ordinance from cities like Sheboygan and Ludington, Michigan. Manitowoc's new Downtown Outdoor Refreshment Area allows alcoholic beverages purchased at participating establishments to be consumed outdoors within designated boundaries. The DORA will operate annually from April 15 to Oct. 31, between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.The initiative aims to boost downtown businesses and economic activity, mirroring similar programs in other cities.

Last summer was one of the hottest recorded, averaging 73.8 degrees Fahrenheit. MANITOWOC – Looks like Wisconsin's summer will be hot, hot, hot this year, according to predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center.
