A Niagara man who sent pictures of his penis to an undercover police officer posing online as a teenager has been convicted of child luring. “This is a particularly serious offence before the courts,” Judge Donald Wolfe said in an Ontario Court of Justice in Welland on Wednesday. While William Greenall chatted with police officers posing as teens and not actual children, he added, it does not negate the wrongfulness of his actions.

A Brampton woman who participated in a grandparent scam which caused a Niagara senior to lose more than $28,000 has been placed under house arrest. Dominique Alexander-Connell was found guilty of possession of property obtained by crime following a jury trial held in a Superior Court of Justice in St. Catharines. On Monday, Judge Robert Reid imposed a nine-month conditional sentence followed by probation for two years. The first six months of the sentence are to be served under house arrest.

Three men who worked as gardeners for an $8-million cannabis operation housed in a warehouse in the industrial area of Niagara Falls have each been granted conditional discharges. Arthit Seesai, Yueqi Gao and Jeffrey Lian pleaded guilty in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines Thursday to a charge of cultivating cannabis without authorization, an offence under the Cannabis Act. The trio, residents of Toronto, received conditional sentences and were placed on probation for 12 months.

Before and after. In a St. Catharines courtroom on Wednesday, a Crown attorney presented a judge with a group of photographs of the victim of an impaired driver because the young woman could not attend the proceedings in person. The before photos were of a smiling 18-year-old. The after photos were of the same young woman, only she is laying in a hospital bed. Her head is covered in stitches after a portion of her skull was removed to alleviate swelling to her brain.
