A tornado warning has been issued for Summit County Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m. for southern Portage County, southwestern Mahoning County, northeastern Stark County, and southeastern Summit County. At 6:09 p.m., a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mogadore, or 7 miles southwest of Ravenna, moving east at 30 mph, the weather service said.

This story has been updated with new information. The National Weather Service in Cleveland said at 6:42 p.m. Wednesday that the tornado warning for southern Portage, southwestern Mahoning and northeastern Stark counties has expired. "The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe limits, and no longer appears capable of producing a tornado," the weather service said. The Tallmadge Police Department is urging motorists to avoid the Kent Drive and Elmwood Drive area.

As the Trump administration moves to end an immigration program for Nepalese migrants, it isn't expected to affect Nepalese residents who have a large community in Akron. The Temporary Protected Status for Nepalese migrants will be terminated on Aug. 5, according to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website.

The Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park Board of Directors on June 9 announced the nonprofit organization's new president and CEO. Starting July 21, Greg Peckham will succeed Deb Yandala, who recently announced her retirement. Peckham was selected through a nationwide search conducted by Potrero Group. According to an email announcing the appointment, he has more than two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, public engagement, and cultural placemaking.

More than 100 administrators in Akron Public Schools will have jobs a month from now after the Akron Public Schools board fixed an earlier misstep. The board on May 30 rescinded a May 26 vote that denied 112 administrators a contract for next school year. They then voted to approve all the contracts, which start July 1. The specially called meeting May 30 was short but necessary to inform employees they would in fact still be employed.
