Ohio’s tax-free holiday is changing again this year, with additional days bringing it to two full weeks in duration. Originally enacted to help Ohioans with back-to-school purchases, it now includes an expanded tax break period to aid with other substantial purchases. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Friday that this year’s Ohio sales tax holiday will run from midnight on Friday, Aug. 1 through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14. Need more information?

If you’re near downtown Akron on June 3 and 4, be sure to look up. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the first Goodyear Blimp flight, three airships will fly over the city Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Wingfoot One, the Akron-based airship, will join its blimp brethren, the Florida-based Wingfoot Two and the California-based Wingfoot Three. Wingfoot One will be decked out in the same black and gray color scheme as Pilgrim, Goodyear’s first blimp.

Civic Saturday Akron, in partnership with Unify America, returns for its second year of programming on June 14 at Bounce Innovation Hub, 526 S. Main St. downtown. This year’s first meet up will feature poetry from Xposyur and music from Kate Tucker, along with reflections from special guest Marjan Ehsassi of the Federation for Innovation in Democracy (FIDE).

Johnson saw our story about the South Street Ministries Bike Shop, along with our list of its rides, and thought our readers would like to know about his nearly 60-year-old group. Original members of the club had to own a bike with at least three gears.
