    OPC Cultivation, LLC., wants to move a marijuana dispensary called the Landing into a building on Market Street. Residents living in the adjacent Dodge Avenue neighborhood are largely opposed to the issue, citing traffic and safety concerns, and more. Representatives of OPC insist that their business will be a good neighbor, saying that they intend to be positively involved in the community.

    Jenn Kidd didn't anticipate becoming the executive director of The Nighlight, Akron's non-profit art house cinema located downtown at 30 N. High St., but she made the leap when the job opened up. Previously, Kidd ran Musica, supplementing her income with freelance gigs — creative consulting, photography and wardrobe work. During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, she found herself between jobs, and the Nightlight found itself wanting a new executive director.

    Farhad Sethna said he's heard from all kinds of people that the atmosphere created by ICE's crackdowns on immigrants are making them afraid. ICE attorneys, he said, are getting charges dismissed as a way to trap immigrants. Sethna offered several pieces of advice, including storing pictures of important documents on your phone, and not speaking to someone claiming to be an ICE agent until they've produced a badge.
