VIROQUA, Wis. (WKBT) -- Viroqua's old landfill closed in the early 1990s, with a system in place to help vent out the methane gas from decomposing waste. The city thought everything was fine — until a few months ago. "There was a local gas company [that] came in and did an annual leak inspection to an adjacent property and found low levels of methane in the building," said Sarah Grainger, Viroqua's Director of Public Works and City Engineer.

LA CROSSE (WKBT) -- The Boys and Girls Club in La Crosse is expanding its youth baseball and softball program. The move comes after the Shelby Youth Baseball and Softball program unexpectedly closed earlier this year. The BGC is now serving more than 500 area kids through their baseball and softball teams. "For me personally it's really cool as I grew up playing here for the Boys and Girls Club as one of the northside teams," said Alex Gavrilos, the Athletic Coordinator for the BGC.
