Much of the trash appears to be construction or moving-related, with whole slabs of tile, what appears to be part of a wall - and even pieces of furniture are strewn across the entire block on Clay Avenue by Belmont Street.

    Residents hoping to cool down in Claremont Pool walked away disappointed during this summer scorcher. The city pool was closed for the second day in a row on Tuesday. A sign posted to the entrance says Claremont Pool was closed until at least 7:30 p.m., but staff on site told News 12 crews it won’t reopen until Wednesday. NYC Parks said Monday that the shutdown was due to a water quality issue.

    An elevator outage is impacting hundreds of tenants in Mott Haven, leaving some unable to access their homes. Tenants tell News 12 the elevator went out at 360 E 137th St. Monday afternoon, during the peak of the extreme heat. The outage leaves the stairs as their only option, but that is impossible for many who are seniors or disabled. "I live on 18, and I've been stuck here, it's been 24 hours," said Alberto Rios, who uses a wheelchair. "I need my medication, that's the main thing.

    The NYPD's highest-ranking woman on the force returned to her Bronx roots Wednesday. First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella visited with students and staff at Jane Addams High School, where she graduated from in 1999. "It feels surreal," said Kinsella. "This school has helped shaped me to who I am today. A lot of what I learned at Jane Addams is what I use in my everyday life now."Kinsella is the first woman of color to serve as the NYPD's first deputy commissioner.

    A teen girl has died, and a man is fighting for his life after both were on a scooter that was involved in a deadly collision on Tuesday afternoon. The crash took place at the intersection of University Avenue and West 192nd Street Tuesday afternoon. Two people, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl, were on a moped that the man was driving. The moped collided with a Honda Pilot that was traveling north on University Avenue.
