PITTSFIELD — The man who died Thursday while incarcerated at the Berkshire County Jail & House of Correction has been identified as William J. Bell of Holyoke. Sheriff Thomas Bowler said Monday that Bell suffered a seizure on Thursday morning. He said Bell, 22, had other seizures in the months since he was transferred to the Cheshire Road facility in 2023. "The medical episode that he had was a seizure, and it wasn't the first one that he's had with us," Bowler said.

The man, 22, experienced a "medical episode" at about 8:45 a.m., reported News Channel 13, citing information from jail Superintendent Brad Little. Missing mother and child found safe in Stockbridge, DA says

STOCKBRIDGE — After a search lasting more than 24 hours, a missing mother and her toddler have been found, according to the district attorney. Around noon on Thursday, Brook Weingart, 30, and her daughter, Juniper, about 18 months, were located in Stockbridge, according to District Attorney Timothy Shugrue. Shugrue declined to say exactly where the mother and daughter were found, but did confirm that both were safe and unharmed.

EGREMONT — A motorcyclist died Friday after he crashed his bike on Main Street (Route 41), according to the Berkshire District Attorney's Office. Multiple people called 911 about 3:50 p.m. to report the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Creamery Road, said Julia Sabourin, a spokesperson for the office. First responders found the driver on the ground some distance away from his bike. He was taken to Hartford Hospital in Connecticut, where he was pronounced dead.

PITTSFIELD — Police said officers arrested a man Wednesday night who allegedly displayed a gun during domestic dispute. Officers received a report about of the incident at about 9:10 p.m. and were told the suspect, Terrell D. Ortiz, 45, of Pittsfield, had pushed and struck the victim with his hand. Police learned he was still in possession of the gun, according to court filings.
