MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Happy Friday! After a dry and hot day yesterday, it looks like we will have a repeat performance of 90° and sunny this afternoon... first we are starting our morning off on a mild note. Temperatures are hanging in the low and mid 70s right now thanks to a muggy atmosphere and overcast sky; at night, that helps insulate us and keep things warm.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Finally: it looks like we are getting a break from widespread rain, but not from the heat! Summer does not officially start for another month or so, but all of Alabama will be feeling like we are in the heart of June with the forecast running a few degrees above average now through the weekend. Most of our area is waking up and walking out the door to mild temperature to start their Thursday...

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - At times our weekend was soggy, and some of that wet weather has carried over into the start of the work week. The area of low pressure that has been the culprit of the active weather continues to push scattered showers and storms into the region... while coverage is lower than Saturday and Sunday, don’t be caught off guard by a few additional pockets of rain and rumbles through Monday night.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The new work and school week is starting off rather pleasant... our morning temperatures were comfortably cool and afternoon highs today warmed mostly into the 70s! Lower humidity in the atmosphere has helped it feel a bit cooler than normal for early May, but a surge of muggy air is returning soon - with it will be an increased coverage of both showers and thunderstorms. Rain and storm chances exist each day starting late Tuesday and lasting through Mother’s Day weekend.

Help me wish the happiest of birthdays to the one and only @NickGunterWX 🎉 couldn’t ask for a better coworker or friend … please consider me working the early morning shift today as your present, okay?! 😅 https://t.co/CBc63FgyQ4

A (mostly) dry afternoon and it’s Friday?! If only this forecast high was 20° cooler … Oh well – 2 out of 3 ain’t bad I guess 🥳🥳🥳 https://t.co/LvI1AQdmLe

This … again?! 🤨 Storms will build in coverage/intensity as a front slides through Alabama … many towns see rain + rumbles today, but our forecast does look to be a lot drier for Friday and the weekend 🎉 https://t.co/W5p7r9RWjZ
