Christopher Allan, who is the owner of the Hecla Avenue branch in Drumchapel Shopping Centre, says he feel ‘betrayed and backstabbed’ amid fears that Post Office bosses are going to relocate his footfall to another shop. The 36-year-old took over the business six-years ago and has over 2000 residents coming through his doors every week. He says he was stunned to discover plans are being considered to close him down and move his counter elsewhere.

The team controlling the tunnel, which is used by over 60,000 drivers every day, were balloted on industrial action after a 3% pay offer was overwhelmingly rejected. GMB chiefs said that staff operating the traffic nerve centre were unwilling to accept the rise – instead asking for a 6.5% hike – and warned their members would walk out if it wasn’t improved upon by COSLA chiefs. The union has now announced control room staff managing the tunnel have backed industrial action.
