(WDBJ) - The Virginia House subcommittee recently killed a bill proposed by (D) Delegate Josh Thomas (21st District), that would’ve required parental consent for minors to use so called “addictive” social media feeds. If a minor using social media did not have parental consent, their social media feeds would only be chronological, meaning they would only see what their friends or who they’re following are posting, instead of random computer-picked posts.

Both the Virginia House and Senate announced they will convene at 12 p.m. on Wednesday to start the session, then recess until Monday, January. 13. Governor Glenn Youngkin will now give his State of the Commonwealth Address on Monday morning. 2025 is an election year, meaning it’s Youngkin’s final year in his term.

    BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ/Gray News) - A Virginia family is pleading for drivers to slow down in the neighborhood after their child was seriously injured after a car hit him. Jackie Rose was hit by a pizza delivery driver on Givens Lane in Blacksburg last week. It’s a day the 5-year-old’s father and grandmother say they wish they could erase from his memory and theirs. “I panicked and went out and said, stop, stop the car!” Martin Rose, Jackie’s father, said.
