    New York City has so far this year recorded its fewest homicides and shootings in decades as police say they’re focused on removing guns from the streets and using data to improve officer deployments, according to new data from the city.     Two women died after they were struck by drivers Saturday night in separate crashes in the Bronx and Brooklyn, police said. According to NYPD officials, a 56-year-old Toyota driver hit a 78-year-old woman walking north on White Plains Road at East 216th Street in Olinville around 10:30 p.m.The woman sustained severe head trauma and was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police said the driver remained on the scene and there have been no arrests.

    Police said Sunday they were looking for at least eight children missing from their homes in Brooklyn, the Bronx and Staten Island, including two brothers who were last seen Saturday. Fourteen-year-old Caleb Williams went missing after leaving his home on Newbold Avenue in Unionport around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, police said. He is 5’5” and 170 lbs., and was wearing a gray sweatshirt, black sweatpants and black sneakers.

    New York City will host a ticker-tape parade honoring combat veterans of post-9/11 wars in July 2026, Mayor Eric Adams’ administration said. The parade, announced during the city’s annual Fleet Week, will roughly coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and will proceed down the stretch of Lower Manhattan known as the “Canyon of Heroes,” between Bowling Green and City Hall.
