CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A cold front crossing the region on Monday will be the focus for showers and thunderstorms, a couple which may turn severe. In the near-term, showers and a few storms are impacting Northeast Ohio on this Sunday as low pressure skirts to the south. Occasional showers can be expected through much of the day, but by this evening, the rain moves out, and clouds break for a bit of sunshine. High temperatures only reach the low 70s late this afternoon.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The stalled front which brought scattered showers and storms to the region the past couple days has moved just far enough away from Northeast Ohio that dry conditions are expected to start the weekend. Some haze from both wildfire smoke and fog is being seen early this Saturday morning. The haze begins to mix out/lift through midday, giving way to a mostly sunny sky.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - As the region remains sunny and rain-free through at least midday Wednesday, the big weather story locally is going to be the increased amounts of haze and smoke in the sky as a result of wildfires burning in Canada. The haze/smoke is being transported into the United States due to the orientation of the upper-level winds, or jet stream. For today, the haze is high enough in the atmosphere that air quality will not be impacted.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - How appropriate that this month - which will finish well below average temperature-wise - is ending on such a cool note. Behind a cold front that moved through overnight, temperatures struggle to get out of the 50s this afternoon. Most of the rain is gone, though a couple isolated showers rolling off the lake cannot be ruled out through midday. While much of the day will be cloudy, some clearing is expected by late afternoon into the evening.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Pleasant weather is in store for the holiday before the next system brings renewed rain chances by late Tuesday. After another chilled start, high temperatures climb to the mid to upper 60s this afternoon. A few 70s are possible in far southern parts of the region. Meanwhile, the lakeshore sees the coolest temperatures due to a north wind between 5 and 10 mph. The sky stays mostly sunny throughout the day with no chance for rain.

Love this view from space of the snowpack and nearly-frozen Lake Erie yesterday! Courtesy: NASA #ohwx https://t.co/WfaKNFpw0k

This was VERY TRUE in Cleveland yesterday.

Seasonal depression seems fake until it’s above 30° and sunny in February and it feels like a choir of angels is singing as you walk up to the gates of heaven

95% on Erie! 😁
