CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Picking up where Saturday left off, sunshine dominates again for this Mother’s Day. The morning has not been quite as cold as temperatures bottomed out in the 40s. However, there will be a bigger split in temperatures for the afternoon due to a north to northeast breeze. This keeps the lakeshore cooler with highs in the low to mid 60s.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - High pressure in control through this Mother’s Day weekend will usher in sunny and dry conditions. It has been a cold start to this Saturday morning as temperatures have fallen to the 30s with areas of frost, mainly away from the lakeshore. However, with winds coming out of the west to southwest today, high temperatures climb to the low to mid 70s this afternoon, including along the lakeshore. Despite a few high clouds from time to time, the sky stays mostly sunny.

A few thunderstorms are also possible with the potential for heavy rain.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Sunshine returns for this Sunday as temperatures trend milder during the afternoon despite the cold start. A lake breeze develops this afternoon, keeping the immediate lakeshore in the 50s. Farther inland, high temperatures climb to the low to mid 60s. The sky stays mostly clear overnight, allowing lows to fall to the 30s and 40s. Patchy frost is possible in the coldest spots. Monday will be sunny again as high temperatures everywhere climb to the 70s.

Fortunately, the risk for heavy rain has ended, and lingering high water begins to recede. Spotty light showers and drizzle/fog will be around this morning before drier weather is expected for the rest of the day. However, the sky stays cloudy, and temperatures struggle to get much higher than the upper 40s to low 50s.

Due to a northeast breeze between 10 and 15 mph, high temperatures will vary widely across the region. Locations along and near the lakeshore stay in the 50s. South of the Turnpike, temperatures climb to the 60s. A few readings near 70 degrees are likely south of US 30.

While the overall risk for severe weather is low, a couple instances of damaging wind gusts and heavy rain cannot be ruled out. Showers begin to move south of the lakeshore from mid to late afternoon.

This is actually the same front that hovered nearby over the past several days and has been responsible for all the rain, but it finally pushed through and will no longer be a bother by this afternoon. Showers linger this morning, even mixing with snow at times, but the rain is lighter and will not lead to any additional flooding concerns.
