Charlottesville Tomorrow focuses on the people in our communities who are most impacted by the issues we cover. So, as the Trump administration makes unprecedented and quick changes to the federal government, we are putting our resources toward the tangible impacts of new federal policies in central Virginia. We are grateful that so many people in our communities are reaching out — please know that we read all of your messages.

From executive orders and actions to leadership changes and lawsuits, the Trump administration’s blitz of bureaucracy can leave anyone’s head spinning. It’s hard to understand what all these policies and changes do or don’t do when they are all coming at you at once, when they are being challenged and withdrawn or enacted overnight. Except, it’s not too hard to understand what our federal government’s policies do if you are directly impacted by them.

Charlottesville Tomorrow gets over 100 messages from folks in central Virginia every day. It’s humbling. We know that you value context, depth and care in the news we provide, and we know how important it is to make as healthy and safe a work environment as we can for our team. And as a news organization, we know that we simply cannot cover every issue, highlight every initiative and event that is important to you.

This is a hard message for me, and our newsroom, to write. We offer our condolences to the friends and family of Eileen Goode, who died on Saturday, Sept. 24. She was 42 years old. Eileen was a reporter in Charlottesville Tomorrow’s newsroom for four months this year, before taking leave. She joined us in March with energy and enthusiasm that propelled us.

People talk about #Charlottesville a lot. But for us at Charlottesville Tomorrow, it's really important to talk to the people here. Nice work by a new contributor, Margaret Manto. https://t.co/HFuPVYesox
