GARDAI in Cork are investigating two major fires which broke out in the city on Wednesday night and early this morning. Fire Services have remained at the scene of a fire at a commercial recycling facility at Knockgriffin in Midleton this afternoon. The massive overnight blaze sent smoke and fumes into the sky, affecting traffic and homes in the vicinity.

A MAN appeared in court today charged with the pub murder of Daniel O’Sullivan in Cork on Monday night. Reece Keogh, 29, was charged with the murder of Mr O’Sullivan at Tynan’s Bar on North Main Street in Youghal. Keogh, of an apartment at 140 North Main Street, denied the murder of the 32-year-old victim when it was put to him in Midleton Garda Station at 3:26am this morning. Evidence of arrest, charge, and caution was given by Garda John O’Donovan in Midleton District Court.

A CONVICTED killer was found knifed to death on the streets of a seaside town after a violent row that began in a pub. Daniel O’Sullivan, 32, formerly from Mallow but who had been living in Youghal, Co Cork, was knifed several times in the stomach following a violent altercation on Monday night. It’s understood his killing followed an earlier row which spilled over resulting in the horrific incident on North Main Street in Youghal.

It’s believed he received a kick from one of the cattle on the family which is located in south CorkA FIVE-year old boy was seriously injured on his family farm on Sunday after he received a kick from an animal. The child was rushed to Cork University Hospital where initially his condition was said to be critical. It’s understood his conditions improved and he has been taken from Cork University Hospital to a children’s hospital in Dublin for specialised treatment for head injuries.
