A major murder probe has been launched after several bodies were spotted floating in the sea off a holiday destination popular with Irish tourists. At least five bodies, with hands and feet shackled, have been recovered by the Civil Guard in the Balearic Sea off Majorca. They are belived to be migrants who attempted to reach Spain via a dangerous crossing from Algeria. The Civil Guard believe that the suspected migrants could have been confronted, handcuffed and then thrown into the sea.

Met Éireann has just issued an urgent weather alert as storms are forecast to batter the entire eastern seaboard of Ireland this afternoon and into the evening. A Status Yellow alert is in place for ten counties, with a particular warning for those in the south east to brace for thunderstorms.

The Minister for Justice has raised concerns with An Garda Síochána over how long it took to find the body of murder victim Tina Satchwell, hidden by her killer husband in her Youghal home. Minister Jim O'Callaghan also said it would be preferable if An Garda Síochána had its own cadaver dog to help find human remains. There is currently just one cadaver dog on the island of Ireland, which belongs to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

A Wateford woman who suffered with crippling anxiety has opened up on her struggle to leave her house for six years. Last year, Rachel Williamson, 25, was diagnosed with agoraphobia - a serious anxiety disorder with fear of public spaces. The young woman said she even found it difficult to go further than her own back garden without "feeling physically sick" during her six-year-long fight with anxiety.

After weeks of warm, sunny weather - followed by a Bank Holiday weekend washout - there is another big change on the way as forecasters are expecting temperatures to tumble into the single digits this week. The weather U-turn will bring noticeably chillier conditions within hours as much colder weather moves in overnight tonight. Forecasters are predicting temperatures across the South West to drop as low as 5 degrees in parts.
