Jerome Power, a 24-year-old amateur jockey and son of TV chef Eunice Power, was laid to rest in his native Waterford on Friday afternoon. His mum, Today Show co-presenter Eunice, told mourners at his funeral how "we were so lucky to have him, even for just 24 years" as she paid a touching tribute to her adored son. Jerome's Requiem Mass took place at St Mary's Parish Church in the family's hometown of Dungarvan, Co Waterford, this afternoon, the Irish Mirror reports.

Plans have been submitted to change an office block at Cork's Docklands into residential accommodation for International Protection Applicants. An application has been made to An Bord Pleanála to use The Cube building, a modern office block on the Monahan Road, for temporary housing for hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers.
