Five-year-old Summer Wells went missing from her Beech Creek home June 15, 2021. Summer would be 9 years old today. An AMBER alert was issued for the missing girl, and remains active. In the days following her disappearance, the search covered 1,000 acres and involved 41 agencies and over 100 people.

MOUNT CARMEL — The Mount Carmel Board of Mayor and Aldermen will vote on accepting a K-9 drug enforcing grant at their next meeting. At the Thursday evening workshop, Town Administrator Jim Stables said they have the opportunity to get a drug detection dog at a $10-15,000 value. It would require some investment from the town as well. “The police chief is supportive of it, I’m supportive of it from what I see,” Stables said. “I see what we’re doing without the dog.
