COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus City Council has authorized funding to help a program city leaders said is vital in the fight against domestic violence. Monday, the city council authorized $345,130 from the general fund to keep the Advocacy Crisis Team for Domestic Violence (ACT-DV), a partnership between Columbus police and Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s Center of Family Safety and Healing. City leaders hope the money will help expand the program.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Summer in Columbus is ramping up. Columbus police data shows there is typically an increase in violence in those months. Last weekend, there were at least five shootings around the city and the Taco Festival at Goodale Park had to shut down early due to reports of fights. Police data shows there were 13 homicides in the month of May, which is the most of any month so far this year. The city’s homicide rate is still the lowest it has been in more than a decade.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus City Schools completed its investigation into a confrontation between administrators at Ridgeview Middle School and a Columbus police officer, with a recommendation of no further administrative action. In a letter to families, Chief Transformation and Leadership Officer Dr. Corey D. Grubbs said the March 17 incident was reviewed by the Columbus City Schools Labor Management and Employee Relations team, which determined that no district policy was violated.
