    At least one new face will join Akron City Council next year, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's primary election. Just two of Akron's council seats were on the May primary ballot: representatives for Ward 1 and Ward 8. In each ward, council members had been appointed to replace the winners of the 2023 election who resigned from office before the end of their term.

    Akron officials are conducting interviews this week for three seats on the Citizens’ Police Oversight Board. More than 20 people applied to serve on the board. The two-year terms of Board Vice Chair Anuszkiewicz and board members Bob Gippin and Crystal Jones expired in March. They are still serving until city officials either re-appoint them or pick new members.
