    GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — An 18-year-old is facing a weapons charge after court documents allege he fired a weapon outside an apartment complex in Alpine Township Sunday morning. Santiago Barajas was charged Tuesday with a count of carrying a concealed weapon. He is being held on $100,000 bond cash or surety. During arraignment, the judge decided against a personal recognizance bond because the weapon may have been used in a homicide.

    BOWNE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man drowned in a Caledonia-area lake Sunday afternoon, according to the Kent County Sheriff’s office. Just before 2 p.m., deputies were called to Campbell Lake in Bowne Township for a possible drowning. The 18-year-old, who was from Byron Township, had been swimming in the lake when he went underwater and did not come back up, deputies said. Crews searched for him, but the depth and conditions made it difficult to find him at first, according to deputies.

    PEACOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police are asking the public for help finding a Lake County man who was last seen Sunday. Jack Albert Peterson, 67, stands 6 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He has green eyes and brown graying hair. According to Michigan State Police, Peterson was last seen Sunday near Irons Road and 4 Mile Road in Irons. He left his vehicle, phone and other personal belongings at home, troopers say. Peterson has Parkinson’s disease, MSP said.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Blue Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids is set to turn orange this weekend to honor victims of gun violence and bring awareness to the issue. It’s the 11th year of the national “Wear Orange” movement, which always falls near National Gun Violence Awareness Day, observed the first Friday in June. Orange lights will spotlight the iconic Blue Bridge over the Grand River beginning Thursday night and through dusk Sunday.
